Ten Year Throwback + Guild Retreat

This week marks the tenth anniversary of The Orlando Modern Quilt Guild. You know how you look back and realize a decision you made was a good one?! Like, life changing good?! Deciding to step out of my comfort zone and start a local chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild was life changing in the best possible way. Of course I would not have had the opportunity to make that decision had I not also made the decision to start a quilting blog around that same time.

I got a kick out of re-reading the blog post I published the day after our first guild meeting. Our group has grown from 16 to 116 and changed over the years, but it remains a fun group! We have been celebrating our big anniversary with “happies” for each member during the meetings, but this last one is my favorite!

Co-founder Michele designed this special 10 Years in the Making logo for us. We added our website and The Sewing Studio’s (who has graciously offered their space for our meetings these past 10+years) logo for these custom Creative Grids rulers for each member. I love the unique 2.5” x 6” size!

The special logo was also used for our guild retreat bags. You can’t have too many of these project bags! Speaking of retreats, here are some pics from the November guild retreat:
