March Madness, Quilty Style
Dance in the Glasshouse is inspired by a recent visit to the Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle, Washington. I was enthralled with the colorful glass art objects in the galleries as well as in the outdoor gardens. Photographs cannot capture the brilliance of the exhibits, though I certainly tried. I was fortunate to experience the gardens during the day as well as in the evening after dark. If only their Dance in the Glasshouse program was available during my visit; instead I’ll create my own Dance in the Glasshouse quilt with these luscious Paintbrush Palette solids.
My selected fabrics are Midnight 121-001, Pencil Yellow 121-003, Pale Iris 121-012, Daredevil 121-146, Mist 121-011, Coral 121-049, Turquoise 121-031, and Beryl 121-095. I am so appreciative to Paintbrush Studios for the opportunity to sew with these colorful, soft, high quality solid fabrics.
The idea I have for my Chihuly inspired quilt is still in my head. I was unable to translate the idea in Electric Quilt or Illustrator with my newbie skills in time for this blog post, but I am still working on it....
I did quickly mock up a few quilt designs in Electric Quilt that are nice - just not what I am aiming for. I designed about five quilts in EQ using this color palette which was fun. Here are two.
I hope you take a minute and participate in the March Madness for Solids which runs through the end of the month. Each day two bundles compete for the chance to make it to the next round. Four random voters are selected to win a fat quarter of the winning bundle at the end. You can vote three times each day - once on Instagram, Facebook, and blog. My bundle is competing today at 7pm EST for 24 hours. Thanks so much!
