Two For One

When making blocks for our guild's Block of the Month, I usually make two - one to turn in for the block lotto and one to keep with the idea of making an annual BOM sampler.

Happy Zombie's Nut block
April's block is perfect for this habit because we are making Monica's Funky Wrench Nuts and Bolts, and following Monica's instructions you end up with two blocks, the Nut and the Bolt.

Happy Zombie's Bolt block
I knew right away that I wanted to use Malka's Stitch in Color fabrics for these April blocks.  This is the first time I've cut into them, and I can't wait to use them again.

I finally have another 36-patch block to add to my collection.  I switched to piecing these following the Leader Ender method while working on other projects so it's slow going.

Here are the eight 36-patch blocks I have so far.

One more shot of the latest 36-patch block.
I kind of like the combination of scissors and pink high heel shoes ;-)

  1. Fun blocks...such happy, bright colors. But, I love the 36er best!

  2. I love that funky wrench block. It's just wonderful! And your 36-patches are grand! I love all the color action you've got going an. You have such fun prints, too! That is going to be so fun when it's done! (Just call me Dr. Seuss.)

  3. Lots of cuteness! I love Malka's color and style- must get some. But no way I can buy more fabric if I don't find more time to sew!!:D

  4. Great idea to make two of each block so you have a set for yourself! Love these blocks, especially the fun color combos and contrasts. Looks like you are having fun with your sewing projects these days.

  5. I seem to always repeat myself. I love the fabric you are using. I agree that somehow scissors and pink high heels go together.
